World’s smallest particle accelerator is about size of microchip. Researchers at the Friedrich-Alexander University created this particle accelerator.

To tackle this researchers developed a technique which involved intersection of two lasers to generate optical field whose properties can be precisely manipulated. Moving electron can accurately sense optical field.
