1. When a wave is refreacted, it moves from one medium to other medium. The medium may be denser or lighter. We know that as refractive index changes, the velocity of the wave also changes. So, here the velocity must change.

2. Refractive index = wavelength of light in vacuum/ wavelength of light in a medium.

3. Speed of light in medium B = v/sin C, which is in fact v cosec C.

4. 1/f = 1/f1 + 1/f2 + 1/f3

So, here 1/f1 = (μ1 – 1) (1/R1 – 1/R2)

For the first lens, R1 = +10 cm

R2 = – 10 cm

In this way, you can calculate the focal length of the first lens and hence the focal lens of the whole system.

5. Spectrum is band of colours of light separated by different degrees of refraction they undergo.

Spectrum is divided into three types.
