LOOPER Science Explained in detail

Directed by Rian Johnson, the creator of Brick, returned with another bang in the name of Looper. This one is another sci-fi flick in our series of movie recommendations and undoubtedly a treat for sci-fi fans and movie fans alike.

Like Predestination, this one too is set in a period when time travel is possible and people travel in-between time loops. In this time, time travel is considered illegal and can cause legal consequences. In between all this chaos, one such looper, Joe gets trapped in his own misfortunes and actions.

Let’s talk a bit about time travel and a paradox that is associated with it. In the recommendation of Predestination

we have discussed about Boot strap paradox. In this article, we are going to discuss about Grandfather paradox.

Grandfather Paradox:

It’s a simple and fun kind of paradox that depicts that if a person travels back in time and kills his or her grandfather, then how will his or her father be born, and hence how he or she will be born in the first place?

This is a paradox as it creates a self-contradiction with itself. There are many theories stating that if one is travelling back in time, then one shouldn’t alter his or her own past, or create altercations in his or her own past life, whose consequences can be very dangerous in the future, even contradicting his or her own existence in the first place. So, it’s assumed that time travel back in time cannot be possible in real life and can only be possible in fiction and films. One such film that is both entertaining and talks the exact same thing as discussed above is Back To The Future. The great thing about the film is it doesn’t take time travel that much seriously as Looper does. Looper is a very serious film which will make you feel for the lead character, Joe, played amazingly by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The film has jaw-dropping plot twists mastered beautifully by director Rian Johnson. On the whole, the film is worth it in the end and will make you re-watch it for delving deeper into the world of Looper. You can watch the trailer here https://youtu.be/2iQuhsmtfH
